Miss Sinister Inspired Look! X-Men Villainesses Collaboration with Artist Sara Richard Part 2!

Claudine_Renko_(Earth-616)

Hey True Believers!

It’s been a long while since I’ve posted a new look and I apologize for making you all wait! My life has been crazy busy since costuming season started (which some of you know, is something else I do). I’ve been super busy making new costumes for the renaissance faire as well as the masquerade balls coming up this summer! (Myth Masque and Labyrinth of Jareth). All of that combined with a full-time job has left very little time for me to update my blog, film tutorials, and do makeup on myself. WonderCon is also this weekend and I hope I run into some of you guys there!! I’ll be there the entire weekend so if you see me please say hello! :)

With all that said, I present to you Miss Sinister! Miss Sinister, or Claudine Renko, is a female clone of Mr. Sinister, the infamous X-Men villain. She’s just as crafty as her male counterpart, but has more sex appeal. She’s a fairly new character in the X-Men universe, and her fate is currently unknown, but I do hope they keep her around as I think it’d be interesting to see her and a fully resurrected Mr. Sinister go at each others throats. . Her abilities are telepathy and a healing factor. She’s basically Mr. Sinister without his memories.

For the shape of the eye makeup, I incorporated a stylized “S” in using the crease. I also used the traditional colors for Miss Sinister/Mr. Sinister which are the red, black, and white. I also got a chance to use some of the new Sugarpill Eyeshadows from the Cold Chemistry collection I picked up at IMATS LA this past January. (I have an IMATS LA haul video filmed, and not edited, so that will be up at some point where I talk about some of the things I purchased.) And again, I’ve collaborated with my amazing artist friend Sara Richard who took my makeup design and illustrated it on a portrait of Miss Sinister which you can see below!

I do have a tutorial for this look, but alas, I’ve had no time to edit it so it will be up on my YouTube channel sometime in April I hope! (Basically I’ll be quite busy until after July! So I’ll do what I can!)

Enjoy!

Madelyne Pryor, The Goblin Queen Inspired Look! X-Men Villainesses Collaboration with Artist Sara Richard Part 1!

xmenend1_5 01171310-GoblinQueen

Hey True Belivers!

Today’s look is a special one! I’ve teamed up with one of my dear friends, and supremely talented artist, Sara Richard again to bring you another collaboration! This time, we’re doing some X-Men villainesses! To start this awesome collaboration off, I picked the lovely, unfortunate, and enraged Madelyne Pryor aka the Goblin Queen from the now classic Inferno storyline!

Madelyne was the wife of Scott Summers aka Cyclops and the biological mother of Cable. She was also cloned from Jean Grey by Mr. Sinister (which is something NO one knew when she met and married Cyclops, but common…everyone noticed how much she looked like Jean and NO ONE suspected it?? common people!! LOL), and was an all around nice girl, up until Jean came back from “the dead” (I use that term loosely lol) and Cyclops left Madelyne and their newborn to be with his now back from the dead ex girlfriend….AWKWARD! Basically, Madelyne couldn’t handle it, and decided to shack up with a bunch of demons and went mental. She also tried to sacrifice her own kid…wow! (to sum things up!)

I based this eye makeup and lips off of her sexy black costume (can you say supreme under boob?! jeez…I don’t even know how she didn’t fall out….double sided tape? lol) and pulled the red from her hair and also the demonic energy she was weilding. And like our previous collaborations, Sara took the makeup I designed and wore, and placed it on an illustration of the character wearing it.

I had filmed a tutorial for this, but I lost ALL of the footage of me doing the makeup and only managed to not lose the intro and outro. D’Oh!

I hope you guys enjoy this look and make sure to go check out Sara’s work and buy a few prints if you really adore them as much as I do!

ps. my eye color has been photoshopped green in the pics. they are NOT contacts! I was going to wear mine, but my eyes were super irritated this day.

Deathbird Inspired Look!

1166396-deathbird

Hey True Believers!

Today’s look is inspired by that badass alien villainess, Deathbird!

Deathbird is known as being one of the X-Men’s many enemies and was also known for constantly trying to take the Shi’ar throne from her sister Lilandra, who was the Empress/Majestrix (to see the look I did based on her, click here). She finally became Empress after marrying Cyclops’ and Havok’s insane long lost brother, Vulcan. She’s also more birdlike in having talons, which is a trait looked down upon by her people (she’s from an avian race, but talons are a symbol of inferiority of evolvement)

Needless to say, she’s a bit unstable! But she has a very cool design and she’s a fierce fighter. I took her trademark eye markings and recreated them using the eyeliner and simplified them a bit, as different artists tend to draw them differently, and also borrowed colors from her armor and cape. The brows have hints of metallic purple like her armor as well. The lipstick I chose also is a reflection of the dark pinks she wears in her headdress and feathered cape.

I hope you like!

Scarlett Johansson’s 1990s Goth Look! W Magazine 4 Decades of Fashion Collaboration with VintageorTacky, Sokolum79, and Goldiestarling!

Hey True Believers!

Today I bring you something a little different from what I normally do. I know I’ve only ever done one other celebrity inspired look before (I went as Nicki Minaj to a holiday party a year ago. You can see that here.) but here’s another recreation for you! I saw the above image of Rooney Mara, Mia Wasikowska, Scarlett Johansson, and Keira Knight from the W Magazine 4 Decades of Fashion shoot and LOVED it so much, I asked some of my gal pals if they’d like to recreate it! Everyone was really into the photos as well and this collaboration was born! Very rarely do I get super excited about celebrity makeup enough to do something on my blog regarding it, so I was glad I was able to do this collaboration with 3 ladies I’ve looked up to in the makeup vlogging arena since before I started my blog.

Cora as Rooney Mara’s 1970s look: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIb0Ulsjbnc

Heather as Mia Wasikowska’s 1980s look: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7IY5gy9ntQc

Angie as Keira Knightly’s 2000s look: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifldGOKsxVs

We’ll all be together at IMATS LA this weekend walking around, shopping, catching up with other bloggers, vloggers, followers/subscribers, and makeup company friends, so please, if you see us, say hello! We’d love to meet some of you all!!

This also is my first YouTube video tutorial, which you can watch below: (Please Subscribe!)

I hope you all like it!

ps. That white stuff in my hair is from Sally’s..it’s a spray in color..and it was horrible in my hair so I’m sorry it looks bad! LOL Also, my skin is still adjusting to the Paula’s Choice skin care I started a few weeks ago, and combined with the cold winter weather it’s resulted in dry flakey skin, even after exfoliating >.<.

Viper (Madame Hydra) Inspired Look!

428010-GoM_Viper_

Totally appropriate for the season! lol

Hey True Believers!

Today I have a Madame Hydra aka Viper look for you all! I loooove Viper (I prefer to call her by that code name as it’s short, sweet, and to the point ;P) because she’s such a bad ass. I also love her because it gave me an excuse to use the BEAUTIFUL green lipstick and eyeshadow Cassie Wanda over at Lime Crime was kind enough to send me from their Alchemy collection. The moment I saw it, I just knew a Viper look had to be done because it’s Viper’s signature lip color.

Viper is the face and leader of the criminal/terrorist organization Hydra, as well as the wife (or ex? I can’t keep track lol) of Wolverine. Yup..she’s married (or was married) to Wolverine..not because he was in love with her, but it was something that had to be done due to underworld politics and her blackmailing him into doing so. (You can read more about that on the Wikipedia link I posted up above, or go pick up the trade paperbacks!) Anyway, she’s not a mutant, doesn’t have any super powers, she’s just a badass chick! She sometimes has dark green hair, sometimes it’s just black, but she’s usually just covered head to toe in green, so that was the main color I used for this look. I was also really inspired by the makeup done by Tanja aka Rose Shock and love the way she does her eye liner, so I borrowed the eyeliner shape from her.

I hope you like!

(On a side note: I’m working on getting everything bought and ready to start filming tutorials for you all, so please go to my facebook page www.facebook.com/makeupbysiryn and vote on the poll I have there so I know what most of you would prefer style wise. Thank you!)
