Deathbird Inspired Look!

1166396-deathbird

Hey True Believers!

Today’s look is inspired by that badass alien villainess, Deathbird!

Deathbird is known as being one of the X-Men’s many enemies and was also known for constantly trying to take the Shi’ar throne from her sister Lilandra, who was the Empress/Majestrix (to see the look I did based on her, click here). She finally became Empress after marrying Cyclops’ and Havok’s insane long lost brother, Vulcan. She’s also more birdlike in having talons, which is a trait looked down upon by her people (she’s from an avian race, but talons are a symbol of inferiority of evolvement)

Needless to say, she’s a bit unstable! But she has a very cool design and she’s a fierce fighter. I took her trademark eye markings and recreated them using the eyeliner and simplified them a bit, as different artists tend to draw them differently, and also borrowed colors from her armor and cape. The brows have hints of metallic purple like her armor as well. The lipstick I chose also is a reflection of the dark pinks she wears in her headdress and feathered cape.

I hope you like!

Storm Inspired Look! (Ver.1)

Hey True Believers!

I know some of you have been waiting for a good while for me to do a Storm look. I’ve been putting it off until I could get something special for it (She’s definitely one of my top 5 favorite super heroines and favorite X-Men of all time, so I wanted to do her right and do her justice), but then some friends of mine had an Avengers themed costume birthday party this past weekend and I decided to go as casual Storm. (I even wore my awesome new Tokidoki Storm hoodie (not pictured >.<)!!). I figured this would be a good opportunity to do the Storm look. :) I’m going to call this a version 1 (I plan on doing other versions at some point ;) ) as this one is based on both of her gold and black costumes (the one pictured above and her original from the 70s which was slightly different and included her bloodstone/ruby brooch and bikini like top and bottom.)

I blended the white (that represents her hair) and the black (her costume) in the middle into a “stormy” gray which to me, was a representation of her powers over the weather, as well as the gold lightening bolt along the outside which pulled from the gold in her costume and also represented her ability to conjure lightning.

(Ps. I’m sorry about my skin! I’m having weird skin/dry patch issues. >.< Oh the joys of being a woman! lol Also, the wig I’m wearing is white, but the reflection off of my halter top and the bathroom walls made it look blonde >.<)

(PPs. I’m not wearing contacts. I photoshopped my iris blue.)

I hope you like!

Enjoy!

Pixie (X-Men) Inspired Look (Version 2)

My new hair color that I based on Pixie called for a new version of her look! The original was okay, but I wanted to try something a bit different this time. My new hair color is Pravana Vivids in Magenta! (Best. Dye. Ever!) I became a fan of the brand last year when I was Psylocke purple. It has human hair keratin in it and leaves my hair super shiny and soft! The color is also a stain so it stays in your hair for WEEKS! I only had to touch it up maybe 3 or 4 times last year! It definitely will not wash out or fade easily and I highly recommend it! (For crazy colors I always recommend using a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner and washing in cold water. It will make your color last much longer as it keeps your pores closed so the color doesn’t come out as much.) And I give so much love and props to my friend and hair stylist James (Jimmy) Staley . Have him do your hair if you’re in the LA area!! He’s amazing! :)

As usual, I based the look off of her powers, physical appearance, and costume.

I hope you like! :)

Enjoy!

Dazzler’s Holiday Party! (A Dazzler Inspired Look)

Art by Chris A. Tsuda

Last night I went to a Holiday party and the plan was to wear my silver sparkly top and go as tinsel. (lol) But once I started thinking about my outfit and the colors of Christmas lights I decided that I would do a Dazzler inspired look that could also double as a holiday look. I based the look off of Dazzlers first costume which was the silver catsuit/jumpsuit and I used holographic silver glitter to represent her sound converting into light based powers. It came out SOO beautiful! Every time I’d turn my head to look in the mirror my eyelids looked like sparkly rainbow disco balls (another early Dazzler accessory.) I’m just so bummed that photographing it couldn’t capture the light and color changes. Maybe when I use glitter I should make a little video clip so you all can see the effect of glitter on the look. Hmm.

I’ve also entered this look in the Makeupbee Holiday Makeup Competition!! Please go to their website and like my look! The look with the most likes wins (There is a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prize)! You need a Makeupbee account in order to vote, and it’s free to make one. Thank you!!

My Entry: Dazzler’s Holiday Party!

Anyway, on to the look!

Edit: I apologize for the colors in the full face shot being so off. I tend to forget to set my white balance and I’m darker in those photos that I am in person lol (I didn’t have time to mess with the camera as I was on my way to a party). The full face Phoenix photos are the correct color match skin and makeup wise. I’ll be better in the future! >.<

Enjoy!

Phoenix Inspired Look! (Phoenix Series Pt. 2)

Today I bring you part 2 of the 3 part Phoenix series! So this one I pulled in a bit and didn’t flare it out past the edge of the eye or above the eyebrow because I wanted to show the restraint Phoenix had before she went Dark Phoenix and lost control. So it’s a bit more streamlined than the previous that flared out. I also lightened the green of the iris (AKA the eye color is photoshopped! My true eye color is hazel!) to reflect Phoenix’s temperament before she went Dark Phoenix as well as using a lighter red wig (I love my wigs!). (I realize I’m working a bit backwards doing Phoenix after Dark Phoenix, but I just decided to make this a series on the spur of the moment :) ).

Enjoy! :D
